National Consulting Program

Business Impact Group's National Consulting Program (NCP) provides free consulting services to small businesses, social impact organizations, and non profits in all industries and stages of the business life cycle. Through this program—which is entirely student-run—we aim to accelerate economic and social growth, with a focus on underserved regions across the country.

What is Business Impact Group?

Business Impact Group is the University of Washington's largest undergraduate consulting organization. A registered student organization (RSO), Business Impact Group mobilizes undergraduates at the Foster School of Business and across the university to help small businesses. Through our existing partnership programs, we have run 73 unique engagements and subsequently provided 350 student involvement opportunities since Autumn 2021.

What can the National Consulting Program do for me?

If you are the owner/operator of small business or community-based organization, the National Consulting Program can organize a team of student consultants to support your business goals. Projects include creating marketing strategies, assessing your financial position, researching consumer preferences, or developing a growth strategy (see more information below).

Projects are 6-week engagements that conclude with a final set of recommendations and deliverables. Engagements have the option to extend across multiple quarters with new teams. Note that this program is entirely student-led.

How much does this cost?

This program is free of charge, however, we have a plan in place to enable optional donations to support our impact. All donated funds will be invested into running and improving our operations, we do not pay ourselves.

What small businesses and community-based organizations are eligible for the program?

We welcome inquiries from any small business or community-based organization. We primarily service the west coast but are open to those outside of it. In particular, we strongly welcome businesses and organizations from economically underserved neighborhoods.

Where We Drive Impact

Program Timeline

2 / We then pair you with a 6-person team of five student consultants and a Project Manager.
3 / The team receives the statement of work and is able to hit the ground running in finding answers for your business needs.
4 / Teams meet weekly with you to provide updates on their progress, ask for more information, and keep iterating on their solutions.
5/ Each project concludes with a final showcase of the culminated recommendations and deliverables developed over the course of the project. Research is summarized, solutions are explained, implementation is clarified, and details on feasibility, impact, and timeline are highlighted.
